2025 Nissan Pathfinder vs. 2025 Honda Pilot

The Nissan Pathfinder and Honda Pilot are two of the most popular names in the midsize SUV space for good reason. They both offer spacious cabins, plenty of features, and top safety marks. Which is the best three-row SUV for your family? That depends on your priorities! When it comes down to it, they share plenty of similarities. They both cater to families looking to maximize interior space without incurring the costs of a full-size SUV. They’re primarily designed to be a comfortable family cruiser, but each model features designs that help transform it into a reliable companion off-road and at the campsite. We’ll break down some of the key differences between each model, including the different powertrains, cabins, and pricing. If you decide a Nissan Pathfinder is the best choice for you, Bob Moore Nissan has plenty to choose from. Visit our Nissan dealership to test drive the 2025 Nissan Pathfinder for sale!

Nissan Pathfinder vs. Honda Pilot Powertrains

You’d be forgiven for thinking the Pathfinder and Pilot have the same engine. While they are the same size, there are some slight differences to be aware of.

Model: Engine: Horsepower: Fuel Economy City/Highway (MPG)
2025 Nissan Pathfinder 3.5-liter V-6 284 21/27
2025 Honda Pilot 3.5-liter V-6 285 19/27

Across the board, there’s nearly no difference in performance, both offering similar power and fuel economy numbers. The most significant difference is in the towing capacity, where the Pilot tows 5,000 lbs and the Pathfinder tows 6,000 lbs. Even then, the difference shouldn’t make or break your decision. With an essential wash when comparing powertrains, let’s see how the pricing compares.

Pathfinder vs. Pilot Pricing

Model: Lowest Listed MSRP: Highest Listed MSRP:
2025 Nissan Pathfinder $37,070 $51,810
2025 Honda Pilot $40,200 $54,580

We grabbed these numbers from Honda and Nissan’s websites to get a fair look at what you can expect from each model. The Pilot is reliably more expensive at each end of the spectrum, whether you’re looking for a more basic model or a fully specced-out SUV, it will cost you. Both their top-end models are similarly equipped, with heated and cooled seats, a panoramic sunroof, and advanced driver assistance systems. The Pathfinder and Pilot also have similar 4WD off-road focused models, dubbed the Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek and Honda Pilot TrailSport. Both have similar features like exclusive wheels and off-road suspensions, but the Honda is $4,000 more expensive. With the Nissan offers better value across the board, but let’s take a look at the interior space.

2025 Honda Pilot vs. Nissan Pathfinder Interior Space

Both SUVs have three rows of seating, with the second row featuring a bench or two captain’s chairs. Both are reasonably spacious and give your family plenty of space to spread out. The Pathfinder has a smaller trunk, with 16.6 cubic feet of space compared to the Pilot’s 18.6 cubic feet. With all seats folded down, the Pilot retains the edge, offering 87 cubic feet compared to the Pathfinder’s 80.5 cubic feet. All told, the Pilot is a little roomier. They also feature class-leading safety features, with both models earning a five-star overall rating from the NHTSA. The Pathfinder also earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick+, the highest available award.

Pilot vs. Pathfinder Takeaways

At the end of the day, both models have something to offer. We obviously have a bias towards the Pathfinder, but we think that for the money, the Pathfinder provides the same features, powertrain, and safety features for less money. If you’re looking for an extra couple of cubic feet of space, the Pilot might be for you, but we think the Pathfinder offers compelling value for the money.
